Honoring Our Founder: A Special Thanksgiving Mass at St. Peter’s Church, Colombo Fort

On August 14th, we gathered for a special Thanksgiving Mass at St. Peter’s Church, Colombo Fort, to commemorate our esteemed founder, Captain James Steuart, who first set foot in Ceylon in 1818. With a deep-rooted history at St. Peter’s Church, the Steuart family has played a significant role in shaping the legacy of our island nation, leaving an indelible mark on Sri Lanka’s history.

This heartfelt event brought together the George Steuart family and the API community, reaffirming our dedication to carrying forward Captain Steuart’s remarkable legacy. For 189 years, George Steuart & Co., Sri Lanka’s oldest mercantile establishment, has remained committed to the values of excellence, resilience, and service, principles instilled by our founder.

The Thanksgiving Mass was a poignant reminder of the company’s extraordinary journey and its continued contribution to the nation’s development. As we look toward the future, we honor Captain James Steuart’s vision and pledge to uphold his legacy for generations to come.
