George Steuart & Co Celebrates it’s founders day

The Founder's Day Celebration of George Steuart & Co. was held on 14 August at St. Peter's Church, Colombo 01. This service was organised to commemorate the founder of the company, Captain James Steuart.

Captain James Steaurt arrived in Ceylon in 1818 and in 1835, established the firm of George Steuart & Co, which became an icon of Ceylonese enterprise and continues to thrive 188 years later.

George Steuart & Co. is Sri Lanka's oldest mercantile establishment and one of the oldest in the world, widely respected for its dynamism, its sustained ability to stay competitive and relevant, and its capacity to thrive. It has a significant presence in seven key sectors: tea exports, travel, healthcare, leisure, financial services, industrial solutions and FMCG.

Today, we celebrate our founder captain James Steuart who paved the way to one of the fastest-growing conglomerates in Sri Lanka.
